Stephen "TooTall" Van Orden Obituary
Stephen Blaine "TooTall" Van Orden, 56, passed away Thursday May 26, 2016 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Steve was "Born to Be Wild" making his way into this world during the Hebgen Lake/Yellowstone earthquake on August 17, 1959. The son of Blaine Van Orden and Arlene Merrill, he attended Rockford Elementary and Snake River High School, graduating with the class of 1977.
Steve spent many years working the farm alongside his Dad and with Wada Farms, and he loved driving trucks for both Wada and Big B Trucking. Steve always had a need for speed and a love for the open road. He spent countless hours on snowmobiles, dirt bikes and his beloved Harley Davidson "Brandy." In earlier years, he was a member of the Eastern Idaho Dirt Bike Racing Association, and competed in the Rocky Mountain Cross Country Snowmobile racing circuit. He also enjoyed participating in long rides and rallies with his fellow Harley riders. Live to ride, and ride to live was the phrase that defined Steve's life. May he now rest in peace with the sun on his back, two fists in the wind and the horizon teasing him further down the great road.
He is survived by his father, Blain Van Orden, of Blackfoot, sister, Jacalyn Gollinger, of Herriman, UT; seven nieces and nephews and nine grandnieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene and sister, Suzanne.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 3, 2016 at the Thomas LDS Church. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, and again on Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
