Steven Lynn Turpin Obituary
Steven Lynn Turpin, 65, of Pocatello, passed away Wednesday July, 27 2016 at Portneuf Medical Center, from a massive heart attack.
Steven was born May 3, 1951 in Blackfoot to M. LaVar and Zola Porter Turpin, the third of six children.
He attended school in the Snake River school district and graduated from Snake River High school in 1969.
On June 15, 1968 he married his childhood sweetheart LeeAnn Anderson in Thomas, Idaho. To this union two children were born, S. Brett and Corine.
He started his career with his father in the plumbing business. Then went on to work with his father-in-law, Ray Anderson, in the fertilizer business. After working with his father-in-law, Steven went on to work for V1 Propane where he moved up to being the manager at the Pocatello store. After his retirement, he had his most loved job of all, taking care of his great-grandchildren.
Steven was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing and golfing.
Steven enjoyed landscaping and spent many hours a week making the grounds around his home look like a park. In fact, he was often asked if family reunions and engagement pictures could be taken there. Many were strangers and he was always very generous. All his grandchildren loved spending time there.
Dad was always available when people needed help, and will be deeply missed by many. Our family has been told over and over what a great man he was, and LeeAnn's family will forever be grateful for the loving care to our parents in their time of need.
Steven is survived by his wife of 48 years, LeeAnn of Pocatello; son, Brett (Lisa) Turpin of Pocatello, Idaho; daughter, Corine (Larry) Bonn of Pocatello; sisters, Zoanne (Kent) McGarry of Pingree, Idaho and Kayleen (Rick) Miller of Ithaca, New York; brothers, Larry (Cherie) Turpin of Thomas, Idaho, Randy (April) Turpin of Rockford, Idaho, and Kevin (Daurene) Turpin of Orem, Utah; 11 grandchildren and 13 1/2 great grandchildren; siblings-in-law who he felt were his family, Jeanne (Jay) Bales of Blackfoot, Idaho, Craig (Shawna) Anderson of Blackfoot, Idaho, Layne (Susan) Anderson of Moreland, Idaho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M. LaVar and Zola; mother and father-in-law, Ray and Donna Anderson; brother-in-law, Denis Murdoch; two nephews, Mark and Michael Murdoch; niece, Merilee Murdoch; and sister-in-law, Connie Lynn Anders.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave, in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the funeral home.
Condolences may be sent to the family online at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
