Susan Anne Pratt Obituary
Susan Anne Pratt passed away peacefully in Idaho Falls Sunday evening, Sept. 4, 2016, from complications of a lingering illness. She had recently moved from Salt Lake City after 25 years where she operated her own picture framing business until retirement.
Susan was born in Idaho Falls on June 23, 1943 to Glenn William and Blanche Emma Eardley Pratt, the oldest of three daughters.
She grew up in Firth, Idaho attending local schools and helping out at the Melba Theater that her dad managed. It was here that she fell in love with movies, which became a lifelong passion and led her to later work as a business affairs manager for a television producer in Los Angeles.
Susan graduated from Firth High School and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Business College in Salt Lake City where she later worked for an insurance agency.
She moved to San Francisco in 1966, attending night school while working as a corporate insurance advisor, and graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She enjoyed the art of motion pictures and was passionate about well-made ones, frequently escaping her busy life to a darkened theater for a couple of hours respite.
She was skilled in sewing, beautifying her home with exquisite detail, vegetable gardening, canning salsa and jams for others, and maintaining anything within her stewardship. She enjoyed traveling, especially to London and the ocean, gourmet cooking, shopping trips to Trader Joe's, blueberries, Thai food and art that she had framed herself.
Her two cat companions, "Gatsby" and "Shadow," gave her joy and pleasure for many years.
Susan is survived by two sisters; Margaret (JD) Gordon and Sally (David) Higley; several cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends; her cats. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of her company. "Here's looking at you kid!"
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
