Thomas F. Rich Obituary
Thomas F. Rich, 86, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at his home in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Thom was born in Omaha, Nebraska on Aug. 24, 1931. Thom Spent his youth traveling and living in many different cities with his mother and step father.
He spent a couple of years attending military school. After his mother inherited the Hawley Hotel in Miles City, Montana, his family moved to Miles City and Thom found a place to call his hometown.
After graduating high school he attended college at both Miles City and Missoula. Thom went on to join the Air Force and served as an aircraft electrician and a gunner during the Korean War. Thom received several medals and left the military with an Honorable Discharge. Thom later completed his degree in business and finance from the University of Idaho.
Thom moved to Idaho after he secured employment working for the AEC, He did take short break to manage the Western Auto in Blackfoot and later returned to finish out his career working for the government.
Thom married Katherine Blackburn in 1965. He adopted his son, Lloyd, and they resided in Blackfoot. Thom and Katherine divorced 18 years later.  
Thom enjoyed several activities including golf, fishing, baseball, football, collecting guns, riding snow machines and sampling the spirits. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed taking scenic pictures and shooting weddings. He was an active member in several community organizations in including the B.P.O.E. Elk's, the American Legion and the Eagles.
Thom is survived by his son Lloyd (Holly) Rich. Thom has seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Thom is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Butler and his step father, Robert Butler.
You will be missed Papa Thom, Old Man, and Pops! Happy Trails until we meet again!
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 at the Blackfoot Elks Lodge. Family is under the care of Hawker Funeral Home.
