Thomas James "Tom" Monserrat Obituary
Thomas "Tom" James Monserrat, 75, of Blackfoot, Idaho previous owner of The Rusty Nail and Golden Spike, passed away peacefully at his home on August 18, 2015.

Tom was born on August 9, 1940 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Virginia Farrar and Thomas "Tommy" Monserrat. Tom was raised by Irvan H. Butler Sr in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Tom joined the United States Navy at the early age of 17, in 1957, where he served his country honorably for four years.

Tom's passion was tending bar. He loved owing his own establishments and always greeted everyone with a smile. In his youth, Tom enjoyed fishing, camping and he has always had a love for casinos and playing Keno.

Tom is survived by his brother, Irvan "Harry" (Debbie) Butler of Springfield, Idaho; sister, Betty Jo Butler (Ron) Atwood of Springfield, Idaho and Roxanne (Al) Simmons of Sandy, Utah; daughters, Trena Argyle (Jeff) Bird of Tooele, Utah, Sharon Monserrat Horton of San Diego, California and Raquel Monserrat of Reno, Nevada; and two stepsons, John Monserrat of Las Vegas, Nevada and James Monserrat of Pocatello, Idaho.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Butler; and two sisters, Barbara Ann and Patty.

Tom was a wonderful person and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

A special thanks to his companion and caregiver, Iva Webb, of Blackfoot, Idaho.
