He grew up in the Thomas area and attended Snake River High School. Troy joined the U.S. Army in 1988. He served in the Army until 1991. He was a Chemical Operations Specialist in Deseret Storm. After his duty in the Army, he returned home. He was received by family and friends at a home coming at the Stewart Hoover Post #23 in Blackfoot and served for that post. He was instrumental in getting the flag at Jensen Grove to honor another family member, John Powers for his service in the Vietnam War. Later, he lived and worked in Provo, Utah. There he met his wife, Krisene Nelson. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. To this union was born a son, Ethan Watson while living in Provo, UT. They moved back to Blackfoot, Idaho and a daughter, Kandis was born. They were later able to adopt a baby girl, which they named McKenna. Troy worked for WalMart while going to school at Idaho State University. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.
Troy and Krisene moved to Caldwell, Idaho where he worked in Planning and Zoning for both the City of Caldwell and the county. While active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Scout Leader. Troy was always willing and ready to help others. He had an infectious smile and laugh that we will always remember.  Due to health issues, Troy was on disability. He was later divorced. Troy moved back to Blackfoot. There were many visits to the Veteran's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT as Troy struggled with health issues. During this time, he met his wife, Cherish White. They were married June 20, 2015 in Blackfoot, Idaho. They enjoyed their time together. He was able to take a trip to California with his new bride and her family.
