Verl "Doug" Cushman Obituary
Verl 'Doug' Cushman, 83, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his home from alzheimer.
Doug was born December 16, 1932 in Pingree, Idaho to Chester Guy Cushman and Emma Mabel Inskeep Cushman. He graduated from Blackfoot High School. 
Doug married his sweetheart, Doris Hardy, August 9, 1951 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Doug was a well known well driller for over 50 years. He also built the Short Stop convenience store in Blackfoot. In his free time he loved to hunt, fish, fly airplanes, scuba dive, motorcycles and going out packing a month at a time with pack horses. After retiring from well drilling, Doug attended Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and pastored the New Hope Anchor Church in Idaho Falls for five years. He had a devout belief in God and dedicated his life to Him. 
He is survived by his wife, Doris Cushman of Blackfoot; daughters, Dianne (Tim) Field and Denise Cushman both of Blackfoot; sons, Doug, Jr. (Patti) Cushman of Idaho Falls and Dean Alan (Michelle) Cushman of Blackfoot; sister, Barbara Williams of Pocatello; sisters-in-law, Edna Cushman of Blackfoot and Patty Cushman of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Jack Cushman; and brother-in-law, Jerry Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
