Von Gene Martin Obituary
Von Gene Martin, 77, of Riverside, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1939 at Blackfoot, Idaho, to Ennis Berkley and Dorothy Lou Peterson Martin. He was raised in McCammon and attended school in Marsh Valley.
Von served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and also at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged in 1962.
On March 24, 1974, he married Joy Anderson Mencer at Blackfoot. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Von drove a mail route for the U.S. Postal Service and worked for Basic American Foods for 34 years.
He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, four-wheelers and anything on wheels and spending time with Joy, his children and grandchildren.
Von is survived by his wife, Joy; his children: Gene Lewis (Jean) Martin of Pocatello, Constance Joy (Ticket) Mencer Stacey of Rigby, Ronald Richard Mencer Jr., also of Rigby, Ronda Jean (Brian) Lloyd of Blackfoot; brothers, Jerry Martin, Bill Martin, Lyle Martin and Steven Randy Martin; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lee Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Riverside LDS Church. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10  at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church.
