William Sherman Whitten Obituary
William Sherman Whitten, 54, of Blackfoot, Idaho returned to his loving Heavenly Father December 9, 2015 at the University of Utah Hospital.
Sherman was born January 1, 1961 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Francis and Isabell Whitten. He served a full time mission in the England, Bristol mission from 1980 to 1982. He attended college at Utah State University, and Ricks College, where he met Holly Sorensen whom he married in 1990 and was sealed to her in the Boise, Idaho Temple in 1991.
After college Sherman worked at Moormans feed for a time, then returned to Blackfoot, where he worked, with many friends, as an appraiser for Bingham County. There he and Holly raised four children, until 2007 when Holly passed away.
Sherman is remembered for his kind heart and loving nature; not a day passed in which Sherman was not found in the service of his fellow man. From visiting people to splitting wood for neighbors, Sherman will always be remembered as a friend to all.
Sherman was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a valiant home teacher and dedicated his life to the service of the Lord.
Sherman is survived by his four beloved children: Mariah (Jordan Van Orden), Miranda (Matthew Wells), Anniken Whitten, Elijah Whitten; his precious grand-daughters, his fiancé Kathryn McLain, his two sisters Bonita (Kevin Marcum), Nancy (Lance Call), several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday December 18, 2015 at the Wapello 1st LDS chapel. The family will meet with friends and relatives Thursday December 17, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, and again one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].
