I met Charley during our time with the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1991 we worked together renewing the deck of a bridge at Fort Sumner, NM. Charley did most of the planning for how our crews would get the job done using a two track crane. We would go to work about 4 a.m. then break for breakfast once we got our crews going. We spent a lot of time together and became good friends. After retirement I would call Charley every time I stopped in Amarillo on my way to Kentucky. He would come to the hotel or meet for a meal to visit and catch-up. He was a good friend, I will miss him. My sympathy to his family,
