Jose Ignacio Garcia, 84, of Amarillo, formerly of Hereford, died Sunday, December 9, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery between Hereford and Vega.

Jose also known as Joe was born on July 28, 1934 in Trementina, New Mexico to Jose H. Garcia and Aurora Garcia. He was a business owner and operator of Garcia Cement Contractors. He was retired but still worked from sun up to sun down helping everyone in need. He was a jack of all trades. He was a licensed minister. He formerly preached in a church he built himself named Templo Jordan in Hereford. He moved to Amarillo in 2006. He ministered in several prisons in Texas and New Mexico. He also had a ministry in Mexico at an orphanage where he would deliver toys and clothing to the children in the orphanage. He was an amazing father and Papo. He loved all his children and grandchildren dearly. His family was everything to him. He ministered and met with a group of his friends every morning at McDonalds on Ross and that was a part of his day that he loved doing. He loved hunting, music, playing his guitar, singing to his Lord and Savior. His main duty every day was saving loss souls. He poured out the love of Jesus to anyone he came in contact with. The love of his life was Jesus Christ first then his family and friends. There was not a person that did not only love him but had the upmost respect for him. He taught us that there is hope in Jeus and we will all be together soon. He left a legacy for all his family and friends to remember him by but mostly to honor Jesus. He is now in his eternal home. He will be greatly missed but he will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Steve Garcia and Pete Garcia; six brothers, Max Garcia, Hillario Garcia, Telesfor Garcia, Henry Garcia, George Martinez; and a sister, Maria G. Amaro.

He is survived by seven daughters, Joanne Garcia Flores, Liz Garcia Torres & husband Toby, Cindy Castro and husband Nick, Becky Aguilar and husband Steve, Debbie Tijerena, Annette Mendoza, Mary Helen Castillo and husband Wally; a sister, Daisy Garcia, 24 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. He was the rock of this entire family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
