Weyher, Ronald Lavern 8/14/1942 - 3/25/2020 Iron River Ronald Lavern Weyher, age 77 of Iron River, MI passed away peacefully on March 25, 2020 from lung cancer. He was born August 14, 1942 in Tecumseh, Michigan to A. Lavern Weyher and H. Arlene (Downing) Weyher. Ron graduated from Britton Macon High School in 1960. He joined the Army National Guard September 1964 and served for 34 years: first in Company A of the 107th Signal Battalion in Ann Arbor, MI and then in Company D of the 156th Battalion. Ronald worked for the State of Michigan Department of Bridge and Design, and later worked as a truck driver for Hubbard Bee Supply out of Onsted, Michigan. He retired from L&I Leasing where he transported refrigeration units for Tecumseh Products. He was a member of the American Legion (Past Commander for Post 155), member of the Lenawee County 40&8 and past member of the Huron Valley Corvette Club. As a young man he was a member of the Britton Congregational Christian Church in Britton, MI, and more recently was a long time member of Grace Covenant Church in Iron River, MI. He is preceded in death by his loving parents and half brother Richard (Marie) Weyher. Ron is survived by his loving wife Susan of Iron River, and his daughter Michoh J. (Dave) Doyle of Ypsilanti, MI. In addition, he is survived by his four step-children, Kim (Mike) Zwiers of Appleton, WI, Dave Jacobs of Crystal Falls, MI, Joe (Rachel) Jacobs of Tecumseh, MI and Andrew Jacobs of Port Charlotte, FL; two sisters Sandra Weyher of Bradenton, FL and Debra (Weyher) Kimerer of Kissimmee, FL; one half sister, Betty (Weyher) Raczkowski of Petersburg, MI; eight grandchildren, Chelsea (Timothy) Stevens of Lowell, MI, Kellen J Guinn of Cape May, NJ and Holden J Guinn of Ypsilanti, MI; Daniel Doyle of Roseville, CA, Matthew Zwiers of Appleton, WI, Benjamin and Nicholas Jacobs of Tecumseh, MI and Arianna Jacobs of Port Charlotte, FL; one great grandson Calvin Floyd Stevens of Lowell, MI; Niece Stephanie (Steven) D'Amico of Winter Park, FL; and two nephews Ryan (Leah) Kimerer of Bradenton, FL and Joshua Kimerer of Seattle, WA. Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Britton, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the . Ron was a well-known model train enthusiast who had a true passion for Great Lakes Freighters and Great Lakes Lighthouses. He loved working on his H/O model railroad in his basement and spent countless hours designing and building train displays for other enthusiasts throughout the country. Numerous publications published articles and photos of his work. He also had a passion for photography and enjoyed traveling around Michigan to capture freighters, lighthouses or Trains on his local adventures. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
