Bobby Thayron Nichols passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Attalla, Alabama. Visitation was 1-3pm with funeral services following. Burial was at Mount Olive Methodist Church in Piedmont, Alabama. Bobby was born on February 18, 1935 in Cherokee County, AL. He lived in the Ball Play community for 30 years at which time he married Dorothy Whittemore Messer Nichols. They then moved to Odenville, Alabama then on to Attalla, Alabama where they resided for 55 years. He worked at Republic Steel for 18+ years before becoming co-owner of Bob's Used Cars in Attalla, AL and retiring after 20+ years. Bobby was a beloved husband to Dorothy for 55 years and father to 3 beloved children, William Keith Nichols, Karen Elaine Nichols Rhodes (Eddie) and Kathy Leola Nichols Meadows (Richard). He enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren, playing country and bluegrass music, Alabama football, and the Atlanta Braves. He was a faithful member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church in Piedmont, Alabama where he served on the building and finance committees. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Hosie Shelton Nichols and Flossie Viola Floyd Nichols, his brothers Kenneth Ray Nichols and Alden James (AJ) Nichols (Elsie), a sister Lorine Marilla Nichols Gowens (Hugh) and a grandson Mahlon Curtis Messer Nichols. He is survived by his wife, three children, eight grandchildren: Matthew Nichols, Melonie Nichols Rueger, Allison, Jordan & Riley Rhodes and Jacob, Will & Luke Meadows, one great grandchild Grayson Elijah Rueger, his brother, Jessie Jack Nichols (Patsy), two sisters: Norma Nichols Engle Morgan, Donna Mae Nichols Smith and three sister-in laws: Grace Whittemore Jordan, Doris Whittemore Collier and Betty Ward Nichols. Officiating was Brother Roy Thomas, Minister of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church. PallBearers: Matthew Nichols, Jacob Meadows, Will Meadows, Luke Meadows, Dr. Roger Nichols, Terry Nichols, Kim Nichols & David Jordan. Honorary Pall Bearers: Ronnie Nichols, Billy Tidwell & The Men of Davis Chapel UMC.
