Obituary

Funeral service for Sharon Abernathy 73, will be Saturday, March 14, at 1 pm at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Croom, III, officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Church Cemetery. Mrs. Abernathy passed away on March 6, 2020. Mrs. Abernathy's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to her service. A wake will be Friday evening 5 - 7 pm at the funeral service. She retired a Nurse Manager from Jacksonville Hospital after 32 years, also served 30 plus years on HUD Housing Authority Board, City of Jacksonville Civil Service Board 33 years of service. Survivors include her husband Larry Abernathy Sr.; children Tina (Samuel) Nickles, Larry Abernathy Jr., Thomas Abernathy, Regina (Kevin) Riley; son in-law: James Morris, special former daughters in-law; Katrina Abernathy, Sabrina Abernathy; grandchildren: MAJ Samuel (Jayna) Nickles, Larry Abernathy III, Benjamin Morris, Christopher Abernathy, Chasiti Abernathy, J'Christian Morris, Myles Morris; great grandchildren: Isabella and Naomi Nickles. siblings: Freida (Travis) Morris, Drucilla Lomax, James (Regina) Lomax, Walter (Gloria) Lomax, Edward Lomax, Saul (Jennifer) Lomax, other relatives and friends.
