Obituary

Funeral Mass for Mr. William "Bill" De Leon, 67, of Jacksonville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Jacksonville. The Reverend John G. McDonald will officiate and burial will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Bill passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Edward De Leon and Asencion Connie De Leon; and his brothers, Joseph G. De Leon, Jesse C. De Leon and Gil V. De Leon. Bill was a native of Guam. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country with honor in Vietnam with Delta Company 26th Engineer, Americal Division in Chu Lai. Following his discharge, he relocated to Calhoun County and went on to attend Jacksonville State University. Bill went to work in Civil Service at Ft. McClellan and served in the National Guard. He began his career in law enforcement and served with the Ohatchee Police Department, Weaver Police Department, JSU, and retired as a Corporal with the City of Jacksonville Police Department. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Bill loved to hunt, fish, do various jobs for people needing help, and grilling. Bill will be most remembered for loving his daughter and for devotion to family. Bill is survived by his daughter, Kathryn De Leon; brothers, Tom De Leon and his wife, Karen, Francis De Leon and his wife, June, Delmer De Leon, and Ray De Leon and his wife, Nancy; sisters, Thelma Mendiola and her husband, Fred, Geraldine Diaz her husband, Edgar, Roxanne Laughridge and her husband, Jamey, and Vanessa Livasy and her husband, Bryan; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Hodge, Sam Sampson, Jeremy Penny, Bill Wineman, Gary Marbut, and Mitch Wright. Online condolences may be sent to www.klbrownfuneralhome.com K.L.
