Penny Marlene Mize

Funeral services for Penny Marlene Spears Mize, 65, will be at 2 p.m. today, November 24, 2010, at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jacksonville with the Revs. David Gilmore and Mike Owens officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until service time Wednesday. Mrs. Mize died Sunday at Regional Medical Center. She is survived by two sons, George Mize Jr. of Jacksonville and Mike Mize and his wife, Tammy, of Alexandria; two sisters, Lennie White and Charlotte Spears; two brothers, Ronald Spears and his wife, Brenda and Jerry Spears and his wife, Thelma; a sister-in-law, Linda Spears; four grandchildren, George Mize III, Jarred Mize, Corey Mize and Tanner Mize; one great-grandchild, Shyanne Mize and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be George Mize III, Jarred Mize, Corey Mize, Tanner Mize, Shannon Spears, Loren Farley and Steve Downing. Mrs. Mize was a former employee of Union Yarn Mill and Jacksonville State University and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Calvin Spears Sr.; by her parents, Joe and Jessie Turner Spears; a sister, Tessie Spears and a brother, Leon Spears.
