Alfred J. Chorman, 89, of Middletown died peacefully Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home in Hazlet. He was born and raised in Staten Island NY and attended McKee High School. Alfred was an Army veteran of WWII. He served in the 5th Infantry Division and saw combat from July to November 14, 1944, when he was wounded in action at Metz, France. Alfred was awarded the Purple Heart. After the war he worked at Halloran VA Hospital in Staten Island where he met his wife-to-be Etta Gene Ladd, an RN at the hospital. They were married in September 1948. He then began a 32 year career with the US Customs service working his way up from laborer to Senior Import Specialist. Upon their retirement in 1980, he and Gene relocated to Boca Raton Fl, where they enjoyed 29 years of leisure together. Alfred relocated to Middletown in 2012.

Alfred was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Gene, in 2009. He is survived by his sons, Lawrence and his wife Patricia of Lincroft and Richard and his wife Michele of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, James, Mary, Katherine and Corey.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 3 - 6pm service at 3:30pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Boca Raton, Fl. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven in N. Lauderdale, FL. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Catholic Charities, Providence House, 383 W.
