Alice A. Harney,
Freehold - Alice A. Harney, 82, of Freehold Township died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. She was born in New York City and had resided in Freehold Township since 1962. Mrs. Harney was an optician and store manager for Lens Crafters of Freehold before her retirement 17 years ago. Prior to that she was an optician for U.A.W. District No. 65, Woodbridge and Julie Borromeo, Freehold. Mrs. Harney was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church where she served on the Altar-Rosary Society. She was a volunteer for Open Door of Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. Harney; an infant son, Bryan; two brothers, Owen and Michael Clarke; and a sister, Elizabeth Heldt. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph and Carol Harney and Chris Harney; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jack Schraepfer and Jean and John Wickham; a sister, Joan Carey; eight grandchildren, Glen, Caitlin, John, Sarah, Jessica, Matthew, Candice and Kelly; and four great grandchildren, Brendan, Faith, Addie, and Connor. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Open Door of Freehold, 39 Throckmorton Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
