Joseph R. "Bob" Simko

AGE: 80 • Sayreville

Joseph R. "Bob" Simko, 80, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died Sunday December 2, 2012 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Woodbridge, he lived in Morgan since 1960. Before retiring in 1985 he was employed as a millwright for the Hyatt Bearing Division of General Motors, Clark for 32 years. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy, serving as an usher for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Son of the late Joseph and Anna Simko, he was also predeceased by his son, Joseph R. Simko, Jr. in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Helen Liberty Simko; his son, Mark Simko of Flagler Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren, Laurie, Becky, Liz, Joey, Mark, Tim and Tyler; three great granddaughters, Alexis, Lydia, and Cheyenne; his special cousin, Edward Simko and his wife, Gerri of Lebanon, Tennessee and his special friend, Lynn Loy of Morgan.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Cremation will be private followed by burial at sea under the supervision of the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Mary's Church Food Pantry would be appreciated.
