Nicholas H. "Nick" Falcone
AGE: 89 •
Nicholas H. "Nick" Falcone, a singer, actor and career railroad man dedicated to church and family, died December 29, 2016 in Brick, NJ. He was 89. Originally from Aspinwall, PA, he lived in Neptune, NJ for nearly 50 years. Nick was a U.S. Navy veteran who served stateside at the end of WWII and overseas in the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea. He was a congregant and original lector of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Asbury Park, NJ for more than 40 years. Nick also served as president of the church's Holy Name Society, raising funds to build its Parish Center.
Nick spent most of his working years with the Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail), which included his position as safety supervisor for the eastern region. He had previously worked as an accountant for the U.S. Treasury Department. Nick's passion was singing and acting. He appeared in more than 50 films and TV shows, including The Godfather and The Sopranos. Nick was a professional opera singer and also performed in regional and local theater. He also served as president of Neptune Pop Warner and coached what later became the junior pewee division (then called the taxi squad).
Nick was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Rosaria Arrigo Falcone. He is survived by his children, Danita Falcone Reynolds and her husband Dave of Brick; Sandra Falcone Groves and her husband Charles of Aberdeen; Nicholas J. Falcone and his wife Pam of Allenhurst; Mark X. Falcone of Atlantic Highlands; and David J. Falcone and his wife Lauren of Canton, MA, as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Viewing is at the Ely Funeral Home in Neptune on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Asbury Park on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may also be offered online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.
