Paul "Buddy" Dwight Baskin, Sr.


Paul Dwight (Buddy) Baskin, Sr. of Lakewood, formerly of Belmar passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 29, 2014 after a brief but courageous battle. He was born in Jersey City and was a shore resident his entire life. He was a graduate of Manasquan High School and enlisted in the Coast Guard 3 short months later where he learned to be an Electrician. "Buddy," as he was known, was the epitome of a Jack-of-all-trades serving in various capacities over the years such as a locksmith with Rible's Locksmith of Belmar; the arcade mechanic for Belmar Playland; a dispatcher for Belmar Taxi & Car Service and he always was there as "Mr. Fix-it" for anyone that ever asked. He was a lifelong member of Union Fire Company #1; past president of Belmar First Aid Squad; former troop leader Boy Scout Troop #40 & Cub Master of Pack #40.

He was predeceased in life by his loving parents, Lester and Anna Baskin and birth mom, Grace V. (Babb) Lanning. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Jane (Maire); son, Paul Baskin, Jr. of Lakewood; daughters, Theresa Baskin of Jacksonville, Fl. and Debra Tombs of Brick; grandson, Christopher Tombs, Jr. also of Brick; sister, Sharon and her husband George Heil of Manasquan; brother, Bill and his wife Pat Lanning of S. Windsor, Ct.; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitations will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2014 from 12-2pm & 7-9pm at Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Hwy 138, Wall, NJ. Interment private. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in Paul's name to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
