Russell P. Rauch, 80, of Middletown, a retired newspaperman, died on September 15, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Mr. Rauch was born in Rahway, NJ, and lived in Cranford, before moving to Middletown in 1956.He was a copy editor for the Asbury Park Press from 1985 until his retirement in 1997. During his 40 years as a newspaperman he worked as a reporter and editor for the former Long Branch Daily Record, Red Bank Register and Elizabeth Daily Journal. Mr. Rauch was a graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, and served for two years as a military police officer in Germany.

He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Alice Donohue Rauch; a brother, the Rev. Lawrence Rauch; a sister, Mrs. Grace Moore, and his beloved wife, Constance Perez Rauch. Surviving are a son, Jeffery L. Rauch of Tinton Falls, and a daughter, Deborah A. Rauch of Middletown. Also surviving are his dear friend Josephine Freyer of Lincroft, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 9 to 11 am at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
