AGE: 87 • Berkeley Twp.
Stephen J. Wargo age 87 of Holiday Heights, Berkeley Twp. died Tuesday March 21st. He worked for Statewide Savings Bank, Jersey City for 35 years before retiring as Vice President in 1995. He earned his Bachelor Degree from Seton Hall University in 1957. Stephen was a Korean War Veteran serving in the Army, a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp., a former Parishioner of St. John Vianney R. C. Church, Colonia and a charter member of the Pope John Paul I Council 6571 Knights of Columbus, Colonia. Born in Newark, he was raised in Hillside and lived in Colonia for 30 years before moving to Holiday Heights in 1995. He loved his family, the beach and Notre Dame Football. He was predeceased by his son Thomas and his 2 sisters Mary Naylor and Margaret Hintenberger. Surviving are his wife Patricia of 60 years, 2 daughters Patti Tideman and her husband Thomas, Peggy Rossi and her husband John, 5 grandchildren Erin Thomson and her husband Scott, Thomas Tideman, Brittany Rossi, Lauren Rossi, John Rossi and a great granddaughter Madeline Thomson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 am Saturday, March 25th at St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 99 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755. Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, Toms River is in charge of arrangements.
