George Bucko Obituary

George William Bucko, III

Point Pleasant - George William Bucko III, 74, of Point Pleasant, passed away on March 24, 2021 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, surrounded by his children. After being given an estimated survival time of nine to eleven months to live, he courageously battled pancreatic cancer for more than four years.

George was born in New Brunswick to George William Bucko Jr and Margaret Pary Bucko. He served in the US Army and worked as a computer specialist at Fort Monmouth. George was a part-time fisherman and commercial lobsterman, and he eventually owned and operated the bait & tackle shop Crystal Marine in Point Pleasant for over 10 years. He also enjoyed boats, corvettes and motorcycles, Atlantic City and Monmouth Park, watching Jeopardy, and was a lover of all animals, especially his dogs.

George is survived by his 2 sons, David Bucko of Point Pleasant and Robert Bucko of Point Pleasant Beach; 2 daughters, Jennifer Cloud and her husband Mike of Brick, and Nancy Bucko of Tionesta, PA; 4 grandchildren, Michael and Megan Cloud and Frank and Angelina DiChristina, and longtime companion Daura Sneeringer.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, March 28th from 2-5 PM at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in his name to the World Wildlife Fund. https://www.worldwildlife.org/

Crystal Marine bait and tackle was truly one of a kind.... Just like George. He will be dearly missed by the entire fishing community at the Point Pleasant canal. His dry sense of humor was second to none.

My husband and I first met George twenty odd years ago through Daura. We were able to enjoy a few trips to one of his favorite places Atlantic City what fun memories we also had the pleasure of going out on his boat You fought one heck of a battle to the end. Till we meet again.

My deepest condolences to your family, on the passing of your dad. I worked with him for many years and become a partner in his lobster business. I just want you to know, your Dad was liked by everyone that knew and worked with him at Fort Monmouth. After our retirement, I would come by his bait shop and sit outside and reminisce, like the two old men we were. I will miss him deeply. His friend Bill Bell
