Adele Metelski Obituary
Adele Metelski

AGE: 90 • Brick

Adele Metelski, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 with her loving family at her side in Brick, NJ.

She was born and raised in Bayonne where she attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Polish grade school and was the first member of her family to graduate from high school in 1944. Adele worked as an assistant to a Naval officer at the Military Ocean Terminal base during WWII.

Adele was the devoted wife of Frank for 68 years and moved to Brick in 1960 where they raised their six children. She was happiest when she was in her kitchen cooking for her family. Adele made friends with everyone she met with her smiling eyes and quick wit. She will forever be remembered for her love of family gatherings and parties - always singing, dancing and telling jokes.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank; her children, Francis "Bud" and Gregory of Boise, ID, William and his wife Barbara of Oakland, NJ, Karen Sullivan of Big Sky, MT, Patricia Villani and her husband John of Mendham, NJ and Bryan and his wife Jil of Southlake, TX. She has 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Adele is predeceased by her parents, Adam and Wanda Adamkiewicz, her son-in-law, Richard J. Sullivan and her grandson, John F. "Jack" Villani.

Special thanks to Adele's care giver who helped her live out this final year with joy and dignity. Thanks also to the wonderful doctors, nurses and health aids at Vitas hospice who made it possible for us to honor Adele's wishes to remain at home.

Adele was a communicant of St. Dominic's RC Church in Brick since it was established in 1962.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic's RC Church in Brick. Cremation is private. Arrangements are under the direction of O'Brien Funeral Home, Brick. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Adele would be appreciated to Meals-on-Wheels of Ocean County, 225 Fourth Street, Lakewood, NJ, 08701 or www.csimow.org/donations/donations-family/
