MSGT Andrew G. Seubert

AGE: 93 • Berkeley Township

MSGT Andrew G. Seubert (USA, Ret), age 93, of Berkeley Township, NJ, passed away at home on December 8, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in Maspeth Long Island, NY on November 20, 1923. In his teens, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), then in 1942 enlisted into the Army, his unit 741 Tank Battalion landed on Omaha Beach, on the first day of the Normandy Invasion and proceeded through Europe until VE Day. His unit participated in the liberation of Paris and the Battle of the Bulge. His military career also had him in the Korean and Vietnam War's before retiring after 22 years of service. He received many medals for his service, including European Theater of Operations medal with arrowhead and 5 battlestars, and Korean Service Medal with 3 battlestars and just recently received the insignia of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor from France. Andrew then worked for the Toms River Chemical/Ciba Geigy Corporation in Security until retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post 129 in Toms River, NJ. Andrew married Elsie Rust in 1949 and started a family. They lived on various Army Posts in the United States and Germany. They moved from Fort Dix, NJ to South Toms River, NJ in 1960 and raised their family. In 1979 they moved to Silver Ridge Park West, Berkeley Township.

Andrew was predeceased by his wife Elsie, in 1989, parents Andrew H. and Minnie (Blickensdorfer), siblings Beatrice Kolenda and Frederick Seubert, niece MaryAnn Grant and daughter-in-law Denise Seubert.

Andrew is survived by his children, Andrew Jr., Barnegat, Irene Seubert, Beachwood, Stephen Seubert, Toms River; 5 grandchildren he cherished, Aric and wife Lori, Marc, Nicole, Stephanie and Kellie and 8 great-grandchildren he adored, Tyler, Gaven, Connor, Hunter, Alexa, Brenna, Mackenzie and Amber; several nieces and nephews and his Sister-In-Law, Mary Seubert, and dear friends Kay Parzick and Grahame Watts.

Viewing will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 with services beginning at 8:00 pm at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 W, Toms River, NJ.

The family would like to express a special thank you to his home care providers, Reynaldo, Lynn, Tracey, Grace, Mrs. Cummings and The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Home Care and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to or Wounded Warrior Project.
