Oakhurst - Annette Cook died Sunday, March 4, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family and her live-in, Nancy Attipoe.

Born in Bayonne, she was raised in Asbury Park and Loch Harbor before settling in Oakhurst in 1963.

She was a straight-A high school student and went to work as a secretary at Camp Evans during WW2.

After the war she dated Joseph Cook who worked at Fort Monmouth. In 1951 Annette was in the great train wreck in Woodbridge. Joe went up to find her in the aftermath and Annette married him a year later. She became a homemaker and the biggest love of her life became her family.

Annette devoted a lot of her time to volunteering and participating in various organizations. She was President of Sisterhood of Temple Beth Torah from 1963 to 1965 and was an officer of the Deal Chapter Hadassah. Annette was an active member of the JWV auxiliary, and in her later years, was a volunteer and Secretary of the Monmouth Symphony.

Annette loved to travel, go to the beach and walked the boardwalks of our Jersey Shore.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph, in 2010; and by her sister, Cecile Glasser.

Surviving are her children: a son, Miles Cook, and a daughter, Bonnie Cook; 5 grandchildren: Zachary, Davis, Maxwell, Sydney, and Jared; and a sister, Jackie Dunkel.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2PM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Route 35, Ocean. Interment will immediately follow at Chesed Shel Ames, Neptune.
