AGE: 75 • Jackson Township

Arlene C. Mortimer, 75, of Jackson Township passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Mrs. Mortimer, the daughter of George W. Mills and Grace V. Crosbee Mills, was born in Newark and had resided in Manalapan Township before moving to Jackson 11 years ago.

Mrs. Mortimer attended Katherine Gibbs School, New York City. She was a bookkeeper for Tomar Industries, Freehold for 40 years. Prior to that she was a homemaker and was employed by Engelhard Industries.

After reaffirming her faith, she joined All Saints Episcopal Church, Lakewood, which she made a central part of her life and where she became actively involved in many areas of the community.

She was a devoted and supportive community member and friend in the Yorketown section of Manalapan and in Four Seasons in Jackson.

Mrs. Mortimer was a team mother in Manalapan youth sports programs, a demonstrative cheerleader for her children's teams, and a proud Manalapan High School Band parent. She was a tireless and passionate worker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and mysteries and adored being a grandmother.

She and her husband, Frank Mortimer, who passed away in 2000, were married in April of 1963.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin Francis Mortimer and Timothy Patrick Mortimer and wife Dominika Tomaszewska; a daughter, Lori Ann Mortimer and husband Steven Nelson; her grandchildren, Derek Mortimer-Nelson, Garrett Mortimer-Nelson, and Victor Mortimer; eight nephews; one niece; 12 grand nieces and nephews; and three great-grand nieces and a great-grand nephew.

Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Lakewood on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations to All Saints Episcopal Church, 213 Madison Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701 or the Huntington's Disease Foundation would be appreciated.
