Art "Pappy" Rubino Obituary
Art "Pappy" Rubino

AGE: 76 • West Belmar

Art "Pappy" Rubino died suddenly in his home on November 3, 2017 in West Belmar, NJ at the age of 76.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gerry, his children; Erin Embon and her husband, Dan; Sean Rubino and his wife, Laurie; Tim Rubino, and Meghan Lozano and her husband Jim. His true joy, his eight grandchildren, Brendan, Noah, Kelly, Brigid, Ava, Luke, Aidan and Declan were the lights of his life. Art was predeceased by his mother, Helen and father, Vito.

Art was born on July 30, 1941 in Hoboken, NJ. He moved to Leonardo and graduated from Middletown HS. He worked for Kerr Glass, Bendix and ended his career at Home Depot in Neptune, NJ. Art enjoyed hanging out at the Jersey Shore where he met the love of his life, Gerry, who he married at 28. Together they raised four children, each graduating from college. Art's favorite role in life was that of "Pappy." His grandchildren, as well as all of their friends, always knew he would be rooting for them on the field, the rink or the stage. Pappy was always involved in everything they did.

Art had a presence. He loved Wall Township, serving his community as a North Wall Little League Board Member and Coach, a Wall Soccer Club Coach and a staunch supporter of the Wall Republican Party. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a brother of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh and a devout member of St. Rose Parish. He was never afraid to share his opinions and enjoyed every minute of doing so, especially on Facebook. He was strong in his convictions, while maintaining a level of kindness and love for what mattered.

Art will be waked at Reilly Bonner Funeral Home 801 D Street, Belmar, NJ on November 6, 2017 from 4-8 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, November 7, 2017 at St. Rose in Belmar at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The family would especially like to thank the Wall Township Police Department and Wall Township First Aid for their care and dedication.
