AGE: 83 • Forked River

Arthur V. Oravetz, 83, departed this life peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 8, 2017. He was born on December 31, 1933 to Anna Helen ( Kutuz ) and Stephen Oravetz in Irvington , NJ . He worked his way through night school at Newark College of Engineering to become an engineer for Bell Telephone for 31 years, retiring in 1988. A Korean War veteran, he was a machinist mate second class in the Navy from 1953 to 1957 and loved boating, fishing, gardening, cooking and teaching his grandchildren his recipes. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Patricia Ann Oravetz, his daughter Michelle Hamberger and her fiancé Ken Keisewetter his daughter Patricia D'Astoli and her husband Frank and his son Steven Oravetz and daughter-in-law Susie, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Steve and George Oravetz.

He will always be remembered by family and friends as a wonderful man who lived life to the fullest.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and on Thursday July 13, from 8:30 - 9:00 am at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Main St. (aka North Rt. 9), Forked River, NJ 08731. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 am from St. Pius X RC Church, 300 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731. Interment shall follow at 11:30 am at the Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, North Hanover Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a Veteran's .
