Barbara "Bobby" Corbin Obituary
Barbara "Bobby" Corbin

AGE: 90 • Mantoloking

Barbara "Bobby" Corbin, a long time resident of Mantoloking died, Sunday, September 24th at her home.

Born in 1926, in Hackensack NJ, Bobby attended the Beard School and later, Parsons School of Design.

As a young child she liked hunting with her father and summering in Bay Head, where she would meet her future husband, Bill.

A founding member of the Seaweeders Garden Club which began in 1963, she was also the creator of the logo which exists today. Always the consummate competitor, she won numerous awards locally and internationally, including the tri-color at the international flower show hosted by The Garden Club of Bermuda of which she was a member. Her talent was recognized through invitations to participate in the Philadelphia Flower show and holiday displays at the Governors mansions (Drumthwacket and Morven).

As a member of the Bay Head Yacht Club, she played an important role in the formation of the paddle tennis program. Her love of paddle and tennis was shown by many team championships and awards.

Other memberships included, Mantoloking Yacht Club, Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and Dorset Field Club, where she played croquet and golf, the latter not quite as successfully.

Bobby and Bill spent their time between Mantoloking, Bermuda, and Vermont...post card settings all. From beach combing to leaf peeping, her love of nature's beauty was all-encompassing. She welcomed any and all that showed up at her door step, always eager to share a cocktail and a sunset with friends new and old. Nothing pleased her more than her sunset views from her patio.

Her family meant everything to her through good times and bad. Her grace, poise and presence will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her sons Jan Guldager of Langhorne, PA, Jeffrey Corbin (Stefanie) of Fair Haven, NJ, her daughter Missy Potter (Blair) of Rumson, NJ and 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Blair Jr., and Blake Potter, David Corbin, and Alyssa Di Joseph.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at the Bay Head Yacht Club, 111 Metcalfe St., Bay Head, NJ, October 12th, 3:30pm - 6:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seaweeders Garden Club of Bay Head & Mantoloking, P.O. Box 191, Bay Head, NJ 08742
