Barbara Sweger

Oceanport - Barbara J. "Bobbie" Sweger, 63, of Oceanport, beloved sister, aunt and friend, passed away on May15, 2018. Barbara was born in Stuttgart, Germany to John and Jean (Wieder) Sweger. Known as Aunt Bobbie to most, she was an incredible friend, aunt, sister, and surrogate mom to all those around her. She fought MBC for the last 5 years with dignity and humor. She didn't allow herself or those around her to wallow in fear of the disease. But rather insisted on getting as much information as she could, and then living her life as normally and fully as she could. She loved to have her family and friends surrounding her.

Though unable to work in recent months, Bobbie had most recently been an employee at Boscov's in Eatontown and enjoyed many friendships created through her time there. Prior to that, Bobbie spent nearly 30 years in the defense contracting industry based in the Fort Monmouth area. Work was not what defined her. It was all about family.

Bobbie was predeceased by parents, and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Desmond Sweger. She is survived by brothers, Joseph Sweger and his children Brian & wife Deirdre, Kate Sweger Myzie & husband Jonathan Myzie; David & Victoria Sweger and their daughter Megan Sweger; John R "Rick" & Rose Sweger and their children Anthony, Emilee and Joseph, sister, Sherry Sweger Arlt and husband Richard Arlt and their children Abigail & Zachary, best friends, Jackie Fornatale and Michelle LaFountain and her daughter Sarah, as well as many friends, great-nieces and nephews.

Bobbie was member of Reformation Lutheran Church in W.L.B. since childhood and a proud member of the "costume ladies " for SRHS Shore Players.

Family and friends may visit on Sat. May 19, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad St., Eatontown, NJ. Interment will be private. Donations in lieu of flowers to or Shore Players Parents Advisory Council (PAC). Memories and condolences may be shared at
