AGE: 88 • Toms River, NJ

Benedict N. LaRosa, 88, of Holiday City Berkley, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Chelsea at Toms River.

Born in Queens, NY, he lived in Staten Island, NY for 36 years and Edison, NJ for 44 years before moving to Toms River in 1998.

He served in the United States Army in the 194th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal. Prior to entering the Army, he served with the New York Air National Guard from 1947-1950.

Benedict was a graduate of New Dorp High School in Staten Island, NY and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY.

He was an Electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Flushing, NY, for many years, retiring in 1991.

Benedict was a member of the American Legion Post 129, Toms River, NJ, the VFW Post 10185, Berkeley Twp., NJ, the Holiday City Berkeley Fishing Club and Irish American Club. He was an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan.

He also coached the North Edison Little League and the North Edison Shamrocks Pop Warner Football and his hobbies including fishing and traveling.

Benedict was the son of the late Mary and Jack LaRosa and brother of the late Jack LaRosa, Jr.

He is survived by his children Susan, Patricia, Nancy, Marianne and Thomas, grandchildren Justin, Tim and Cody and great grandchildren Hudson and Mason.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Scott of Toms River for his many years of dedication to Ben's health and well being.

The family will receive friends Friday 10:00am until the funeral service at 11:00 at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. Burial to follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ at 12:30pm.
