Bernard "Ben" G. Danese

AGE: 80 • Manasquan

Bernard G. "Ben" Danese, 80 of Manasquan passed away Sunday January 22, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents Massimo Danese and his mother Rachele Piersanti, both of Paterson. He was born in Paterson, NJ. Ben was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, NJ. He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1953, where he played football, baseball and basketball. He received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering from Clarkson College in 1958 and was an active member in the ROTC program. Upon graduation he spent 6 months of active duty in Fort Belvoir, VA. He was awarded a Master's of Science in Engineering from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1977. Ben continued his education and was awarded his Professional Engineering License in 1979 while working for the US Dept. of Defense, Fort Monmouth, NJ, retiring in 1991 after 25 years of service. He started his second career working for Telos Systems Group until full retirement in 2001. Ben coached many of his children's team as they were growing up. He loved the NY Giants football team and always said "he was coming back as their coach in his next life". After 32 years in Shark River Hills, NJ, Ben and Lois moved to the Four Seasons at Wall where they resided for the last 20 years. Ben was the first head of outdoor recreation and was a member of the golf club, bocce league and enjoyed playing bridge. For the past seven years Ben has become enamored with his daughter's dog June who loved him unconditionally.

Ben is survived by his high school sweetheart, Lois (nee Paulsen) Danese, of Manasquan and would have been married 60 years this September. He is also survived by his three beautiful children, Robert M. and wife Jody of Newport Beach, CA, Gregory J. of Bradenton, FL., and Lisa A. of Neptune, NJ. Ben doted on his three grandchildren, Kyle, Giancarlo and Gianna all of Newport Beach, CA; a sister and her husband Sarah and Dominick LaTona of Woodland Park, NJ; a brother and his wife Louis A. and Jane of Lancaster, PA and eight nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visiting on Thursday January 26 from 5-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A service will be held during the visiting on Thursday evening.
