Bill and Shirley Rauchle

William Frank Rauchle (Bill) passed away on August 14th 2017 at age 94. Bill's wife, Shirley Margaret Rauchle, (nee Zitzmann), predeceased Bill on March 1st 2017 at age 89. They both were born in New York City, William in the Bronx and Shirley in Queens. William succumbed to a heart failure caused by an acute bi-lateral infection and Shirley of congestive heart failure.

Bill graduated from Jamaica High School in Queens NYC in June 1941. Bill started his career as a test engineer with Bell Telephone Laboratories (ATT) starting in 1941. Bill served as a Corporal in the 888th Signal Company from January 1943 to June 1945, Army Air Corps in WWII Stationed primarily in New Guinea, Philippines and Guam where he worked as a radar technician.

Shirley attended John Adams High School graduating on June 26, 1945. After High school Shirley worked at Bell Laboratories in the mailroom and in various secretarial positions.

Bill and Shirley met after the war while both were working for Bell Laboratories on West Street in NYC in the late 1940's. They dated for several years and then they were married June 25, 1950 in Westfield NJ; purchased their first house in North Plainfield NJ in 1952. They had two sons', Randy born in April 1953 and Craig born in July 1955. Bill and Shirley moved to Scotch Plains, NJ, eight years later they moved to Lincroft NJ. As retires they moved to Greenbrier Woodlands located in Toms River NJ where they resided until October 2012. Bill and Shirley lived out their final years in Scottsdale Arizona at Pueblo Norte at an independent living facility.

Services will be held October the 2nd at 10:00 AM at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona located at 23029 Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024 where William and Shirley will receive a Military honors Ceremony.
