Caroline Mederer Sergio

Caroline Mederer Sergio, 91, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at home in Oceanport. She was born in Germany, came to America in 1947 and married her husband, Nicholas Sergio in 1948. Caroline lived in Jersey City and moved to Oceanport 41 years ago. Caroline was very ecologically minded. She enjoyed gardening, loved animals and always stayed up to date on current events. She was a 30 year member of the Eatontown Choraliers and a longtime member of St. Dorothea's R.C. Church in Eatontown.
Caroline was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas J. Sergio, in 2005; and her son, Nicolas G. Sergio, in October. Surviving are her three daughters, Antoinette and her husband Thomas Wilczewski of Long Branch, Santa and her husband Tom De Haven of Virginia, and Marie and her husband Philip Barbera of Long Branch; her five grandchildren, Maryann DeCelle, Kristine Barbera, Peter Barbera, Kate De Haven Freund, and Jessie Anne De Haven; and her three great-grandchildren, Keith, Jonathan, and Caden.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad St., Eatontown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at St. Dorothea's R.C. Church. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Caroline's memory to the Humane Society, 2960 Shaft Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07724. I will always have my Grandmother in my heart. She is in so many of my memories. I made a promise to her that I will make sure the my children know just how important and wonder a person their Great-Grandmother was. I will miss you so much. I will always love you.
