Charles L. Fearer Sr. Obituary
Charles L. Fearer Sr.

On December 9, 2016, Charles L ("Chuckie Baby") Fearer, Sr. jumped into the loving arms of Jesus Christ.

Chuck was born on July 15, 1927, in Cumberland, MD to Jessie Pearle & Artie Earle Fearer who preceded him in death. He lived in Cumberland for 13 years then moved to Baltimore in 1940. He graduated from Baltimore City College in 1944. Since WWII was on, he decided not to go on to further college. He started his career as a mail boy at Chevrolet-Baltimore at age 16.

A year later, when approaching his 18th birthday, he volunteered for the US Navy. He was assigned to a naval base at Millington, TN where he took boot camp and radio training to be a radioman/gunner on torpedo dive bombers. He later served at bases in Great Lakes, IL; Lido Beach, Long Island; and Bainbridge, MD. Upon discharge in 1946 he returned to his job at Chevrolet-Baltimore, thus continuing a 40 year career with General Motors.

From Baltimore he went to the Central Office traveling audit staff. His career took him to Toledo, OH; Warren, MI; Lordstown, OH; Atlanta, GA; and Framingham, MA from which he retired from his Plant Manager position in 1983. Upon retirement he moved to Indian Bayou in Destin, FL with his wife Cecelia. Upon her death in 1996 he then moved to Seascape Resort playing golf and visiting the beach. His last five years were spent in Assisted Living in Whiting, NJ, near his daughter.

He has been preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years (Ceil) and his son (Chuck, Jr. 2009). He is survived by his remaining loving children; daughters Cecelia Diane Ziarko and Susan Carol Parker (Richard), and son Mark David. He had 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Chuck was the last of 9 children, all of whom have preceded him in death. They were: Wilma Deahl (Justice), Harold (Irma), Billy (Pauline), Louella Bourckel (Gene), Margaret, Ralph (Ottilie), Mary Wood (John), and Jack (Margie).

Chuck was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Destin, FL from 1984 until 2011 where he served for many years as Treasurer, Sunday School/Bible Class Teacher, Stewardship Chairman, and Usher Captain. In Whiting, NJ, he was a member at Christ Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held in Destin, FL at a future date. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, 4325 Commons Drive West, Destin, FL 32541.
