AGE: 88 • Manchester

Charles P. Blunda, 88, of Manchester, NJ passed away December 18, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Jersey City, Charles and his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Durkin, raised their family in Iselin before settling full-time at the Jersey Shore nearly fifty years ago, first in Belmar, then in Brick. A graduate of Henry Snyder High School and Rutgers University, he was a printer by trade, owning and operating Winemiller Press in Spring Lake before becoming a Printing and Graphics Arts teacher at Ocean County Vocational High School in Brick for 15 years and then Apprenticeship/C.I.E. Coordinator. A natural leader, Charlie was active in church, fraternal, education and labor organizations, including President of the Lions Club, Iselin Democratic Club, St. Joseph's Metuchen High School Father's Club and the OCVT Education Association and Vice-President of the Printing Pressmen and Assistants Union. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Spring Lake Council #5611, NEA, NJEA, OCREA and the Leisure Village West Bocce Club. Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie, five children, Michael and his wife Blair, Arlington, VA, Mark, Spring Lake, Charles T. and his wife, Shirley, Shark River Hills, Neil, New York City, and Christina Kennedy, Spring Lake Heights, eight grandchildren, Megan, Christian, Meredith, Brea, Charles M., AnnMarie, Bridget and Nicholas, and seven greatgrandchildren, Amanda and Julianna Lang, Isabelle, Penelope and Beau Blunda, Wyatt Seymour and Madeline Pruneau. He is also survived by brothers, Anthony of Flemington, Joseph of Bayonne, Frank of Hasbrouck Heights, and sister, Theresa Salerno, Vienna, VA. Charles is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Bertha of Jersey City, and three sisters, Frances Marino, Sarah Lucrezia and Rose Lo Bosco. Visitation is December 21, 2016, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is December 22, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at St. John's RC Church, Lakehurst with entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
