Charles R. Egan, Sr.

Whiting - Charles R. Egan, Sr. 67 of Whiting passed away at his home on Wednesday February 14, 2018. Charles was born and raised in Neptune, NJ and was a graduate of Neptune High School. He was employed by Continental Insurance Company for 25 years and then Xerox in several locations throughout NJ for 20 years as an account associate. He was member of Calvary Baptist Church and a past Deacon. Charles was also an Ocean Grove Auditorium Usher. He was a member of Ocean Lodge #89 F&AM for 46 years, where he was Master of the lodge in 1979, 1993 and 1994. He was also an honorary member of the following lodges, Navesink Lodge #9, Olive Branch Lodge #16, and Durand Lodge #179. Charles was then Grand Chaplain in 1996, District Ritual Instructor, District Deputy Grand Master, and Secretary to the Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of NJ. He also received the Meritorious Service Award from the Grand Lodge. He was a member of the Valley of Central Jersey Scottish Rite, where he served as Commander in Chief, Thrice Potent Master and also received his 33rd Degree, and a Lifetime Achievement award. Charles was the past Chairman of the Iris Assembly Advisory Board for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. He received his Grand Cross of Color and was Emeritus Member of the NJ Adult Grand Executive Committee. Charles was a Charter Advisor of the William Findlay Chapter in Pt. Pleasant, NJ, and received the Legion of Honor from the Order of DeMolay.

Charles was predeceased by his parents Charles M. and Dorothy C. Egan. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Shirley (nee Plath) Egan of Whiting, NJ. Charles is also survived by a beloved son Charles R. Egan Jr. and his fiancé Allison Verdic of Branchburg, NJ and a beloved daughter and son-in-law Stacy Holst and her husband Richard of Freehold; two cherished grandchildren Richard and Alexandra.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday February 19, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. Masonic Services will be performed Monday evening at 7:30pm. A funeral service will be held 10 am Tuesday February 20, 2018 at funeral home. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 600 13th Avenue Belmar, NJ 07719 or Ocean Lodge #89 F&AM 559 Church Street Spring Lake, NJ 07762.
