Christian D. Rittman Sr. Obituary
Christian D. Rittman, Sr.

AGE: 81 • Singer Island, Fla. ~ Formerly Oceanport

Christian D. Rittman, Sr., age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Riviera Beach, Fla. Born in Harrison, NJ, he was a long time resident of Oceanport, NJ, now of Singer Island, Fla., where Chris and his wife Doris spent their winters over the past 50 years.

He graduated from Kearny High School where he broke records in track. He is also in the World Almanac for breaking a record in the Melrose Games at Madison Square Garden. Chris received a track scholarship to Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ and Roanoke College in Virginia. While at Blair and Roanoke, he broke many records in track and cross country.

Chris was Vice President of the Mortgage Dept. at Keystone Savings and Loan in Asbury Park. While at Keystone he served on the Board of Directors of the Savings and Loan Institute. After Keystone, he went into the Mortgage Loan Origination business where he was consistently a top producer. He was a member of the Elks Club. Every weekend over the summer Chris could be found fishing with his buddies and family on the local waters in the Sand Hook area except for the occasional running of boats to and from Florida with his closest friends. Spending time on the water with his 3 sons and friends was priceless to him. He also enjoyed skiing, traveling and sitting in a lounge chair in the perfect position to capture the best suntan.

He was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Eleanor. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Doris; his sisters, Maryellen Hnatiuk and her husband Greg and Geraldine Messberger and her husband Sigmund. He will be deeply missed by his 3 sons, Christian and his wife Barbara, Scott and his wife Diane, and Douglas; as well as his grandchildren who affectionately called in "Frompa": Lauren, Kevin, Jason and Anna and step-grandchildren, AJ and Jesse.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, April 2 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch.
