Middletown - Claire Josephine Giblin, 87, of Middletown, NJ, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 8, 2018. She was born in Boyle, Ireland and lived in Middletown for 50 years.

First and foremost, Claire's joy came from being a mother to her six children, a "Mom" to the neighborhood and a homemaker. In addition to being a Mom, Claire was a talented seamstress. Before marrying, she worked in a haberdashery on Broadway in New York City and once her family was raised, she worked with her husband for five years on Dayline Sightseeing Cruises.

Claire was known for her quick wit, impish sense of humor, generosity and unfailing habit of hospitality.

Surviving are her six children: James Giblin (Claire); Kevin Giblin (Donna); Mary Giblin (Robert Kelly); Michael Giblin (Kathleen); Margaret Engelhardt; Clare Buenaga, (Thomas); daughter-by-choice, Francine Ferrari; a sister, Mary Giblin of Drumshanbo, Ireland; dear friend and cousin, Mary "Mona" Barry; 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Claire was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband, Dominic Giblin, and her infant son, Christopher, in 1971.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 4-8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 am at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 110 Bray Ave., N. Middletown. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
