AGE: 89 • Berkeley Twp.

Clara Marie (nee Dettmer) Russell, Age 89 of Bayville, NJ passed away on August 25, 2017. She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Seaside Heights in 1940. She has been a resident of Bayville since 1961. She was a 1946 Graduate of Toms River High School. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #12 since 1952. Over the years she volunteered in many organizations. She served as a past president of the Berkeley/Lacey Chapter of Deborah. She also was a past president of the Bayville Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department. Along with her husband Everett she owned Russell Realty, Beachwood, NJ.

Clara was a woman of great faith. She was an active member of the Village Lutheran Church serving for many years as head of the Altar Guild, as Recording Secretary as well as a member of the Church Choir. From the age of 9, Clara sang in a number of church choirs, as this was her passion.

Clara was predeceased by her Father William J. Dettmer, Mother Marie K. (nee Manuwald) Dettmer, two Brothers William Didden and John Dettmer, and Husbands Walter H. Yourstone and Everett B. Russell. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Marlena Yourstone-Holm (Gary Schmidt) Bayville; Walter Yourstone Jr. (Diana Clark), Kingsland Georgia; Warren Yourstone (Betty Loblein), Ellicott City, Maryland; Andrew Russell (Vicky Clark), New Berlin, Wisconsin; Deborah Russell-Nelson (Savoy Nelson), Ravenel, South Carolina; 15 Grandchildren and 20 Great-Grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Celebration of Clara's life on September 30, 2017, 11:00 at the Village Lutheran Church, 701 Western Blvd., Lanoka Harbor, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be given to Village Lutheran Church or the . Arrangements under the direction of Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Whiting, NJ.
