Daniel J. Doris, 92, a long-time New Jersey resident, passed away on Monday, Aug. 28 at his home in Viera, FL. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bette, and their three children, Daniel and his wife Kayce, Lebanon PA; Patricia and her husband Chip, Indialantic, FL; Michael and his wife Lorraine, Freehold NJ; five grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Sean, James, Kristen and Jackie; three great grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Doris; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Ellen Doris; four brothers, Neil, Thomas, John and Edward Doris; and sister Helen Reilly.

A native of Bayonne New Jersey, Dan was an all-state basketball player at Holy Family Academy in New Jersey, graduated from Villanova University, proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and worked in finance at Cummins Diesel in New York. He and Bette raised their family in River Vale New Jersey where Dan also managed River Vale little league baseball, coached CYO basketball and served as treasurer of local Boy Scout Troop 153. They lived in Little Egg Harbor prior to moving to Florida.

He was a devoted Yankees fan, loved all-things Irish, enjoyed listening to patriotic music, was part of the Brennity Singers of Viera, and was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Indialantic and St. John the Evangelist Church in Viera.

Dan will be remembered for his quick wit, passion for sports and love of family and friends, both near & far.

A viewing will be held Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Indialantic, followed by a Mass to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. Beckman-Williamson of Viera is coordinating arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Viera Lions Club/Foundation.
