Daniel P. Skinner

AGE: 85 • Oakhurst

Daniel P. Skinner, 85 of Oakhurst, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7, 2016. Born in Kearny, Dan served in the US Army during the Korean War. A resident of Oakhurst for over 67 years, Dan worked as a carpenter at Camp Evans and Ft. Monmouth for 32 years before retiring. He was a volunteer for the Oakhurst Independent Hose Company #1 (where he was Chief in 1975) and the Oakhurst First Aid for 55 years. He was President of the Relief Association, a member of the Oakhurst VFW Post #2226, Asbury Park Wall Elks #128, the American Legion Post #346 in Neptune, and the Scottish rite and Masonic Lodge.

Dan was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Gorenflo Skinner in 1997 and his son, Douglas Skinner in 2011; he is survived by his wife, Connie Arlington Skinner; his son, Daniel A. Skinner and his wife, Brenda of Oakhurst; his step-daughters: Sharon Williams and her husband, Barry of Neptune City, Kathy Wakefield and her husband, Bud of Upper Mt. Bethel, PA, Susanne Boyd and her husband, Brad of Neptune City, and Marilyn Greenwald and her husband, Eric of Woodruff, SC; three grandchildren: Daniel G. Skinner, Ilissa Skinner and DJ Skinner; seven step-grandchildren: Anna Williams, Brent Williams, Cory Williams, Devon Williams, Robert Boyd, Troy Greenwald, Erica Greenwald.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in Oakhurst Independent Hose Company #1, 72 Larkin Place, Oakhurst at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the , 801 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702. Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Avenue, Asbury Park is in charge of the arrangements.
