David Masters Olney Obituary
David Masters Olney

Toms River - David Masters Olney, died peacefully at the Lyons Veterans Affairs hospice facility.

Mr. Olney was an exceptional musician who sang, played the piano, saxophone and composed music. He graduated from Berklee College of Music following service in the US Navy. David's artistic skills were vast. He drew intricately detailed ink drawings and designed elaborate wood carvings. David also restored vintage wood boats at David Beaton & Sons Boatyard in Brick NJ some of which sailed-on to win races. He also worked with the Toms River Seaport Society & the NJ Museum of Boating.

Though David's exceptional artistic abilities may not have been of immense notoriety, those who he created artwork for and all who know of David's work ponder it in awe.

It's befitting that this giving and grateful man passed on Thanksgiving Day. He was 62 and survived by his siblings Elizabeth and Timothy Olney. A memorial shall be held at Christ Episcopal Church, where he was a choir and church member for 30 years, on December 9, 2:30pm 415 Washington St. Toms River, NJ.
