AGE: 73 • Waretown, NJ

Dennis F. Tredy, 73, of Waretown passed away on January 18, 2017 at his home. Dennis was born in Jersey City to Louis and Molly Tredy and formerly of Union City. He resided the last 40 years in Waretown. Dennis retired after 22 years of service in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was a Heavy Weapons Expert and recipient of 11 Awards of Achievement. He worked for UPS for 30 years and recently retired after 10 years with Ocean Township, formerly as their Mayor.

As a community leader, Dennis contributed as a member to such organizations as the Pebble Beach and Barnegat Beach Homeowners Associations, American Legion Post #232, Waretown Vol. Fire Company Station 36 and First Aid Auxiliary. His community service extended with his involvement with the Board of Elections, Solid Waste Advisory Council, Preservation Council, Fire and First Aid Academy, all of Ocean County and the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Board of Health, Historical Society, Environmental Commission, Recreation Commission, Recycling Program, County Committee and Municipal Alliance and the Republican Club, all of Ocean Township. Dennis was a life member of the NRA and a history and gun enthusiast and a parishioner of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Waretown.

Mr. Tredy was predeceased by his brother, Louis. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan M. Tredy (nee Macaluse) and children, Dennis Tredy Jr. (Marie), Angela Kleshick (Frank), Theodore Zaremba (Sloane), Gina Schreier (Steven), Michael Zaremba (Amanda) Danielle Score (Jon), David Tredy (Diane), 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 1-3 & 6-8 pm and Monday from 10-10:30 am at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 335 South Main St., Barnegat, NJ 08005. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am at the Waretown Vol. Fire Company, 50 Railroad Ave., Waretown, NJ 08758. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Tredy's memory would be appreciated to the fire company or to the Waretown First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 428, Waretown.
