Dolores M. Smothers Obituary
Dolores M. Smothers

Ormond Beach, FL - Dolores "Dolly" M. Smothers, 84, of Ormond Beach, Florida departed this life peacefully January 25, 2018. Born April 7, 1933 in Brooklyn to the late Michael and Blanche DiGirolamo (Vegliante), she moved to Long Branch as a young child. Dolly was most proud of her work for the Department of Defense in Fort Monmouth. Dolly enjoyed time with her family, going to the beach, dancing, baking and antiquing. She was admired by everyone for her quick wit, compassion, and love of life. Late in life she experienced much joy while attending St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was also an active member of the Mandarin Women's Club and the "Young at Heart" Club. She was preceded in death by her son, John Smothers in 1974. Her brother, Carmen DiGirolamo recently followed her in passing. Survivors include her brother Albert DiGirolamo; her sons, Rob Smothers and his wife, children and grandchildren and Rick Smothers, his wife and children. Dolly will return home to her beloved Long Branch. A Catholic Mass celebrating her life will be held on April 6th at 9 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea. She will be laid to rest, alongside her son John, following the service at Woodbine Cemetery.
