Donald J. Stephens Obituary
Donald J. Stephens

Toms River - Donald J. Stephens, 91, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Community Medical Center. Born in Trenton, NJ, Don spent his early childhood in Seaside Park before moving to Toms River for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Toms River High School and The Signaling School at Niagara University. Don enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served in Tokyo, Japan, in General MacArthur's headquarters. He worked as a superintendent at Simpson Construction for 43 years and was responsible for some of the largest commercial buildings in the Toms River Area.

Don was devoted to his family and provided his children many unique experiences. His passions included gardening, photography, square dancing "RV-ing" and collecting firewood. Everyone would probably agree that the nickname that best described him would be "Gadget Guy".

Don was predeceased by his brother George and sisters Ruth and Leona. He will be remembered by his lifelong love, his wife Patricia; and his children Jay (Island Heights, NJ), Glenn (Belmar, NJ), and Donna (Winchester, VA), and daughter-in-law Laura (Lakewood, NJ). Don is also survived by his grandchildren: Tiffany-Linn (husband Joe), Jason, and Ross (wife Melissa); and his adored great-grandchildren Benjamin and Catalina.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753, on Thursday, December 21st at 11:00AM. Former well-known pastor Ansley G. Van Dyke married Pat and Don at the Presbyterian Church over 70 years ago. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Food Pantry of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, (https://pctr.org/ministries/service-mission/food-pantry) would be appreciated. Pat managed the pantry for over 30 years and Don was her enthusiastic assistant. Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ, is in charge of arrangements.

We'll miss you Dad.
