Donald L. Beekman, Esq., 68, of Shark River Hills, passed away September 6, 2017 at Tower Lodge Nursing Home after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Neptune, he lived in Ocean Grove and Shark River Hills all of his life. Don began his education in Ocean Grove Elementary School going on to graduate from Neptune High School as a stand out athlete, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. Popular with his peers, Don was elected both class president and Student Council president. He continued his outstanding athletic career while attending Gettysburg College, playing football and baseball. His exploits on the field earned him entry to the Gettysburg Hall of Fame in both sports.

Upon graduation from Gettysburg, Don went on to pursue a law degree from the University of Baltimore. He began his career as Director of the Stuart School of Business, moving on to found the Beekman Law Firm in Ocean Grove, where it has been for the past 36 years. Don dearly loved his community. He was a life member of the Shark River Hills Beach and Yacht Club, a past board member, and also served as Treasurer. Through his many years of public service, Don served on the Neptune Twp. Board. Don's political activities also led him to the chairmanship of the Neptune Republican Party. In this capacity, Don became the first inductee to the Monmouth County Republican Hall of Fame.

Don's greatest joy and most lasting legacy came from his family, especially his children, of whom he was extremely proud. He was their coach, mentor, and #1 fan in their sporting endeavors. He enjoyed many wonderful family trips to the Poconos, Disney World, Europe, Hawaii, Arizona, Cabo San Lucas and his favorite, Lake George, New York, where he enjoyed boating, water skiing and playing Pinochle. Don also loved teaching the kids to snow ski and taking the family to Mt. Snow, VT. Golfing with his brothers and his son brought Don great pleasure as did the "19th Hole" at Kelly's Tavern. He loved the shore and the many wonderful restaurants. Many great times were spent at Klein's and the Avon Pavilion. He always lived life to its fullest.

Don was predeceased by his father, Ray, and his brother, Larry.
