Donald W. Peppler Obituary
Donald W. Peppler

AGE: 97 • Interlaken

Donald Peppler, 97, of Interlaken N.J. went home with the Lord, surrounded with loved ones on August 31, 2017. He was born and raised in Upper Freehold Township on a farm owned by his father Wilbur and mother Mable. Donald received his education in the Allentown N.J. Elementary and High Schools. He attended Rider College in N.J. for three years but left when he received a job offer with the Farmers National Bank in Allentown. He became an Assistant Trust Officer there and Vice President and Trust Officer for the Central Jersey Bank and Trust Company upon the merger of the Farmers Bank with Central Jersey in 1963.

Donald became a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church at the age of 12. During his life in the church he was a Sunday school teacher for teens and adults, church treasurer for 20 years, and a lay delegate to the N.J. Annual Conference beginning in 1950. Upon moving to Interlaken in 1965 he joined the First United Methodist Church of Asbury Park and continued his service as treasurer and lay member to Conference. He was a licensed Lay Speaker and preached at various churches throughout his life. For the last several years he has been a member the Hamilton United Methodist Church in Neptune, N.J. along with his son, daughter in law and grandchildren.

Donald married his wife Jean in 1943 and they remained married for 65 years until Jean died in 2009. His mother, father, wife Jean, daughter Donna, and his sister Mary predeceased Donald. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Don Jr. and Virginia and his grandsons, Devin and his wife Meredith and Kirk.

Donald was an avid baseball fan routing for the Yankees his whole life, (except when George fired Yogi!). He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Manasquan Golf Club for many years. Upon his retirement from the bank in 1983, He and his wife Jean were able to travel throughout the U.S. Europe and Israel.

Donald's life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9th at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1pm with a service to begin at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made the Hamilton United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 858 Old Corlies Ave, Neptune, NJ 07753. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
